Haitham Issa, Administrator
As a founding member of the Islamic Society of Central Kentucky (ISCK), Haitham is a prominent and active member of the Lexington community. He was a committed LUA board member before joining LUA’s administration in 2014. He is currently serving his eighth year as president of ISCK. For over 20 years, he has proven his dedication to the Lexington community with his leadership. As an Imam and Khateeb, Haitham has the ability to maintain LUA’s Islamic environment and provide guidance to our staff. He has been the director of the Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Quran (ISAQ) for two years and is excited to begin his 5th year at LUA. He is a devoted father of four children, three of which are graduates of LUA and one who is a current student. He understands the value of Islamic education and is committed to ensuring the success of every student at LUA
Basimah Shalash, Academic Director
Basimah Shalash graduated from Wright State University in 2007 with and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. Then she continued her education at Georgetown College and received a Master’s of Education in 2015. She is currently pursuing a second Masters of Arts in Education with P-12 school certification and will graduate in 2018 inshaAllah. She moved to Lexington in 2010 and immediately joined LUA because of her strong desire for Islamic education. She is a mother of three children which all attend LUA. She is looking forward to a exciting school year.
Hope Omran, Office Manager
Hope Omran was born in Illinois and moved to Lexington at the young age of three. She graduated from Tates Creek High School and attended the University of Kentucky. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration. She started working at Lexington Universal Academy (LUA) in November of 2007 as a part time assistant to the treasurer. In June 2008 she became the office manager. She is the wife of Mahmoud Omran and the mother of five children., Sajidah, Jadallah, Dua’a, Nasreen and Jalaal. Jalaal attended LUA for nine years and is a freshman at Tates Creek High School this year. She is also a current ISCK Board member. She is deeply committed to the vision of LUA.
